Owain Glyn Dŵr was arguably the greatest Welshman of all time and is the Welsh Braveheart. His name has become a symbol of pride and freedom. The society was founded in 1996 by Adrien Jones (the society’s President) to “...commemorate the role of Owain Glyn Dŵr in Welsh history...” and “... create a permanent memorial....” That memorial was unveiled at Machynlleth (where his first parliament was held) on the 600th anniversary of the start of his revolt against the English crown.
